Cunco Province
Established as a Province on 25 January 2006

The seven communities which earlier formed the German Delegation in Chile, were established as the most recent province of the Congregation: Province of Cunco. Today, the province consists of 39 sisters in nine communities. The province understands itself in this way: As sisters of the Holy Cross we know that we are called to collaborate in the spread of the Kingdom in the church. We promote the integral formation of the people. In our service, we work mostly with the disadvantaged ones in our society.
We realise this goal in schools subsidised by the state where we offer education to children and teenagers from poorer circumstances and convey human and Christian values to them. The families of our students as well as our co-workers are incorporated into this educational work
We emphasise particularly in our mission:
- Education of children, teenagers and adults
- Pastoral work in Catechetics, people's missions, youth and prayer groups
- Training of women
- Welfare of old people
We also reach out to older people who are abandoned by their families. We care for their bodily and spiritual welfare.
Sr Carmen Ortega is the responsible person for our Old Age Home for such people. She accompanies them with love in the last phase of their lives.
Sr Margot: I have the joy of experiencing the simplicity, spontaneity, happiness and love of the children while I accompany them in their study process. I also experience their poverty in worth, belongingness to their families, also their suffering because of abuse.
I experience how God speaks to me through these children. They deserve to receive from me the best. This is true for all my co-sisters who have undertaken the education of the young in different places.
