Conflicts with Father Theodosius

Father Theodosius founded a congregation of the Sisters of Mercy which committed itself to social and charitable works. He intended to unite this new branch with that of the Teaching Sisters of Menzingen into one Congregation. Mother Bernarda was convinced that the diversity between the two congregations was too great to form a meaningful unity.

Only when the bishops of Basel and Chur decided openly against the unification of the two institutes did Father Theodosius stop to follow his plans.
